Description
The F-15E Strike Eagle is a two-seat, dual-role fighter jet that can perform a variety of missions, including air-to-air and air-to-ground attacks:
- Capabilities The F-15E can fight in all weather conditions, at low altitudes, and day or night. It has a high-resolution radar and infrared navigation and targeting pods for precision attacks. The F-15E’s navigation system uses a laser gyro and GPS to monitor its position.
- Crew The F-15E has a pilot and a weapon systems officer.
- History The F-15E was designed in the 1980s and introduced in April 1988. It’s derived from the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle, which was intended to be the ultimate air superiority fighter. Other features The F-15E has a maximum speed of 3,017 km/h and weighs 14,300 kg. It’s powered by a Pratt & Whitney F100 engine.
The F-15 has been deployed for many operations, including Southern Watch, Provide Comfort, Allied Force, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom.
